Dorothy Seitz graduated from University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelors Degree in Optical Science and a minor in Mathematics. She worked in the defense industry for several years at Nichols Research and at Teledyne Brown before she decided to stay at home with her children. She has been home schooling for 13 years and has been teaching upper level math classes at Lionheart Christian Academy for the past 8 years. She is mom to four children and an active member of her church, Messiah Lutheran.
Biology, Health and Botany
Jean Bateman graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. She worked in the health care field for 16 yrs. Including 9 years at Oklahoma Memorial hospital, where she helped teach and train students from The University of Oklahoma Medical School / Health Science Center. Her background includes medical microbiology, toxicology, chemistry, hematology and biology. She became a home-school mom and teacher 11 years ago. She has taught elementary, middle and high school science classes to home-school students for the last 9 years. She joined Lionheart 2 years ago. She is a mom of two and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville.

Hobbies: Percussionist with the Madison Community Band, Merit Badge Counselor for Boyscout Troop 351 in Madison, Alabama.

Kiesha Russell graduated from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. While teaching in the Lauderdale County School System, she completed her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from U.N.A. She has seven years of teaching experience in public and private Christian school, where she taught third and fourth grades. After her first child was born, she became a part time librarian. She then felt led to take a break from formal teaching to become a stay at home mom. Four years ago, she began homeschooling. She is a mom of three and an active member of Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church. At church, she teaches Kindergarten and first graders on Wednesday nights and volunteers once a month in WEE worship.
Principal and Teacher
Telitha Castleberry has 11 years of teaching experience as a public school educator and private music instruction experience in the following areas: music history, music appreciation, beginning, intermediate, and advanced concert band and high school marching band, elementary music, and guitar. Telitha's bands consistently received superior and excellent ratings at Alabama State Music Performance Assessment, various marching festivals, and concert band festivals throughout the Southeast. She has a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education from the University of Alabama and a Master's of Science in Music Education from Troy University. Telitha participated as semi-finalist for the International Euphonium and Tuba Competition and as a member of the Sound of America Honor Band. While at the University of Alabama, Mrs. Castleberry performed as Assistant Principal of the Alabama Wind Ensemble, Million Dollar Band, and University of Alabama Women's Chorale. Telitha has served as guest conductor for the Calhoun County Jr. High Honor Band and for the Band Together Christian Honor Band. She has served as member of the Board of Lionheart Christian Academy for the past 8 years.

Dr. Richard Sparks
Superintendent of Education
Dr. Richard Sparks created Lionheart Ministries in 1997. Richard has been a Project Engineering Manager in the Nuclear Power Industry for over 30 years. Richard has taught in both industrial settings and at the college level. Dr. Sparks has degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, and Human Factors Engineering. He is a Navy Veteran.
Director of Bands and Choirs
Sheila has over thirty years of music and arts teaching experience. Sheila Sparks has taught music history, music appreciation, voice, piano, chorus and jazz from kindergarten to high school in several locations throughout the United States. Her students have received numerous awards in solo and ensemble, All-State, Honor Bands and Scholarships. Under Sheila’s direction the Lionheart Christian Academy Band and Chorus have won many awards and compete in the State of Alabama Competitions.Sheila has degrees in Music Education – Trumpet Major, History & English. She has Minors in Piano, Voice and Jazz. She is a graduate of Jacksonville State University. Sheila is a Member of the following organizations that aide our academy in providing opportunities for our students. Because of these affiliations and memberships, our students can compete with other Alabama and National High School Students.
